Year-End Events

An April 28 Senior Sayonara/Year-end Cook-out gave the underclass Natties a chance to say good bye to the departing seniors and provided everyone an opportunity to unwind before Spring finals kicked in.

At an April 19 dinner, the graduating National Scholars honored seven faculty and staff with the NS Award of Distinction for their support of the group's intellectual, professional and personal development. The faculty honored were Dr. Robert Geist (computer science), Pastor Chris Heavner (Lutheran Campus Ministry, Habitat for Humanity), Dr. Stephen Hubbard (electrical and computer engineering), Dr. Robin Kowalski (psychology), Dr. Bobby McCormick (economics), Dr. Jim Morris (biochemistry), and Dr. Terry Tritt (physics).

Lee Hamilton

As part of the Bank of America Global Forum, sponsored by the Clemson Center for International Trade, several Scholars were able to hear from and meet Lee Hamilton, former Representative from Indiana and vice chair of the 9/11 Commission.




New Scholar Retreat, August 2004

The 2004 National Scholars were welcomed into the family with a 3-day retreat that focused on team building and goal setting. The retreat concluded with a day-long rafting trip of the Chatooga River.


European Study Abroad, Summer 2004

After their freshmen year, National Scholars spend several weeks studying at the University of Sussex in Brighton and travelling throughout Europe. In 2004, the group went to Ireland, Amsterdam and France.

Dolphin Research Center, May 2004

Several National Scholars spent a week at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, FL, in May 2004 as part of the NSP Maymester Educational Enrichment Expedition.
